City Ordinance Forbids Campaign Signs on Right-of-Way

In case you didn’t know, the city of Center has an ordinance that addresses signage. Anyone placing political signs within the City Limit is requested to place them behind the right-of-way, or on private property. Of course, if you don’t own property, you should get permission from the property owner before placement. If there’s any doubt as to where the right-of-way ends, please use the utility poles as an indicator. The sign should be placed on the back-side of the right-of-way. The ordinance also states that signs should be removed within 3 days after the election for which they were placed. If there are any questions, contact the Inspection Dept. at 301 Nacogdoches St. or call 598-2055.
