Girls’ basketball playoffs last night:

 

The Tenaha Lady Tigers are headed to the area round of the Class A, Div. I playoffs after a 44-39 bi-district win over Neches last night in Rusk. Tenaha advances to take on Dallardsville Big Sandy in the area round Friday night in Lufkin, either the high school or Angelina College. The site and time are to be determined today.

 

Meanwhile, the San Augustine Lady Wolves defeat Evadale, 53-49 in Woodville last night, to move on to the area round of the Class A, Div. I girls’ playoffs Friday night against state-ranked Cushing. That second round game will be at 6 Friday at Angelina College in Lufkin.

In the Class 2A playoffs last night, state-ranked and undefeated Central Heights over Deweyville, 70-35.

 

The Shelbyville Lady Dragons are waiting on their first playoff opponent, as they’ll meet the winner of the West Sabine/Colmesneil game being played tonight. That area round game is tentatively Friday night in Lufkin.

 

Other scheduled girls’ basketball playoff action tonight:

 

The Martinsville Lady Pirates are playing Wells in a first-round playoff game at 7:30 in Woden.

 

The Garrison Lady Bulldogs will play Woodville at 8 p.m. in Hudson, in bi-district action.

 

In boys’ basketball tonight, weather permitting it’s the last regular season game as Central comes to Center, Carthage at Huntington and Hudson at Diboll. The Riders are in the playoffs, and with a win, would have a share of the district championship. Central is 9-2, Center and Diboll are 8-3, and Jasper is 8-4. All are post-season bound.

 

It’s Senior Night at Roughrider Gym Tuesday, as the senior players will be recognized prior to tip-off.

 

District 22-1A, Div. I games tonight: Shelbyville at Tenaha, Joaquin at Timpson and Martinsville at Gary. Tenaha has won the district and is 9-0, with Shelbyville and Martinsville, second and third respectively. The Dragons and Pirates are 6-3.

 

Tenaha ISD has advised tonight’s Tenaha-Shelbyville games will start with JV at 4:30, followed by varsity due to weather.

 

In District 23-1A, Div. I, San Augustine goes to Broaddus, and West Sabine will be at Zavalla, as S.A. and West Sabine are tied for the district lead at 8-1tonight. Should both win, and end in a tie, a district playoff game will be played Friday at Angelina College to determine seeding. Could be another district playoff this week if Broaddus loses to S.A., and Brookeland beats Pineywoods, there would be a tie for the third playoff spot.

 

Scheduled soccer action today: the Riders go to Hudson and Hudson girls will be in Center to play the Lady Riders, both in district action. Meanwhile, the Tenaha Lady Tigers go to Tatum. Last Saturday, the Tenaha Lady Tigers took a 2-0 win over the Texas High JV girls in Texarkana.

 

Girls’ softball regular season is expected to start today: Marshall at Center; Newton at Joaquin; Shelbyville at Hemphill; and Garrison at Lufkin.

 

Baseball scrimmages today: Center at Tatum; West Sabine at Shelbyville; and Garrison at Winona
