Sabine DA Turns Wright Case Over to State AG

Sabine County District Attorney Kevin Dutton said Wednesday morning in a statement he’s turned the ongoing Alfred Wright case over to the Texas Attorney General’s Office. Dutton said his decision was based on the allegations against Sheriff Tom Maddox, and to avoid any appearance of impropriety. Dutton said any further questions should be directed to the Texas Rangers or the Texas Attorney General’s Office. It was on Monday that the Justice Department said they will be investigating Wright's death.
