Center: New Emergency Facility Sets Groundbreaking

Nacogdoches Medical Center will now proceed forward with construction of a 10-thousand square foot 24-hour satellite emergency department and diagnostic imaging center in Center, after Shelby County Commissioners approved a requested tax abatement Monday.

The hospital has announced a ground breaking ceremony for 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 12 on its property at Hwy. 96 south and Loop 500. The public is invited to join the hospital and local leaders to celebrate the occasion. J.E. Kingham Construction Company of Nacogdoches has been chosen as the general contractor for the planned campus.

Nacogdoches Medical Center CEO Gary Stokes said, the hospital’s proud to continue to provide quality care for Shelby County residents closer to home.

The satellite emergency department will provide emergency services for adults and children. It will be staffed by experienced, board-certified physicians with direct access to surgeons and specialty physicians.  The facility will also have a fully staffed laboratory and imaging services.  Protocols will be in place for immediate transfer of patients requiring a higher level of care, or other specialized services.
