In local sports,

The Texas Association of Basketball Coaches have released their state rankings for the week, and the Tenaha Tigers have dropped from No. 7 to No. 10 in Class A, Division I; and the San Augustine Wolves are No. 9 in the same Class A poll. West Sabine is ranked No. 20.

In addition, the Class 2A boys’ poll has Tatum ranked No. 5; and Center Roughrider district opponent, Pollock Central, is No. 23 in the Class 3A boys’ poll.

The girls’ rankings have the Central Heights’ Lady Devils ranked at No. 4 in Class 2A; and Tatum is No. 18 in the same poll. The Joaquin Lady Rams dropped out of the Class A rankings after a setback last week.

Tonight’s high school district basketball schedule has the Center Roughriders and Lady Riders at Huntington in a District 20-3A match; the Shelbyville Lady Dragons at Tenaha to play the Lady Tigers; the San Augustine Lady Wolves at Broaddus to play the Lady Bulldogs; and the Joaquin Lady Rams go to Timpson to take on the Lady Bears.

Non-District games: the San Augustine Wolves tangle with the Joaquin Rams in Joaquin; and Zavalla will be in Shelbyville to take on the Dragons.

Scheduled soccer scrimmage tonight has the Center Lady Riders hosting Henderson at Roughrider Stadium.
