Local Sports Roundup

In local basketball action over the weekend,

 

The No. 7 state-ranked Tenaha Tigers beat Class 3A Atlanta, 106-93; Livingston Big Sandy over the state-ranked San Augustine Wolves, 90-65; and Marshall defeats Nacogdoches, 63-36.

 

The Center Roughriders were off Friday night, but in other District 20-3A action, Central takes a half-game lead on the Riders in the standings, after a 71-53 win over Carthage; Diboll over Huntington, 76-46; and Jasper beats Hudson, 70-63. Tomorrow night, Center goes to Huntington, Hudson at Carthage and Diboll travels to Jasper. Central has the open date.

 

In other boys’ district action Friday, Crockett over the Garrison Bulldogs, 58-35; and Central Heights over Westwood, 74-66.

 

In girls’ district play Friday, the state-ranked Joaquin Lady Rams opened up on the short end of a 34-22 loss to the Martinsville Lady Pirates; and the Garrison Lady Bulldogs drop to 3-2 in district after a 56-55 setback in overtime to Crockett.

 

The Center Lady Riders were idle Friday, but resume district play Tuesday night at Huntington.

 

The local Class A-Division I boys’ teams, including Tenaha, Timpson, Joaquin, Shelbyville, San Augustine and Broaddus all open district play either tomorrow night or Friday.
