Four Men Arrested Following Burglaries

Four local men have been arrested in connection with several  recent burglaries in the Fox Street area.  Police Officer Joey Haley says 17-year-old Johnathan De La Cruz was determined to be a suspect in connection with the events.  Haley says it was determined that De La Cruz possibly had a stolen firearm in his possession.  “On Monday October 14 I was able to locate Delacruz and conduct a traffic stop on him as he was leaving his home on Hwy. 7 East.  Delacruz was in possession of a Taurus .38 special with the serial numbers filed off. Delacruz was also in possession of property that was missing from the burglaries. I was able to secure a search warrant for Delacruz’s residence at 3860 Hwy. 7 east in Center, where he resides with several other individuals,” Haley said.
It was 10:40 that evening when Haley executed the search warrant with the help of PD officers, the Shelby  County Sheriff’s department, and the DA’s office.  Haley says law enforcement found an unspecified amount of individually packaged marijuana and possible stolen property.  Arrested was 38-year-old David Herrerra,  23-year-old Pedro Herrerra, and 54-year-old Hipolito Nava.  Haley says the investigation is continuing and other charges are possible.
“When this investigation began to develop, the Sheriff’s Department and D.A.’s office did not hesitate to send the manpower to assist me in this investigation. I would like to give a heartfelt Thank you to Sheriff Willis Blackwell and his men, and D.A. Ken Florence and his investigator for their sincere eagerness in interdepartmental cooperation”,Haley said.
