Shelby County Commissioners Approve Burn Ban

Shelby County Commissioners have voted unanimously to keep an outdoor burn ban in place in the county  until substantial rainfall is received.  County Judge Rick Campbell first put the ban in place last week.

Also approved was an interlocal agreement between Shelby County and the Deep East Texas Groundwater Conservation District for election services for an election in which voters will decide whether or not to form a district , consisting of Shelby, San Augustine, and Sabine counties.

The court tabled action on a change in county sick time policies in which current, active employees would donate sick time to other current, active employees "in need."  Officials wanted more time to fine-tune the policy, defining what an "in need " employee is and what sort of limit to put on the sick time..
