Fireworks safety needs to be reinforced

As fireworks begin to light up the Ark-La-Tex sky, safety needs to be reinforced. Retired firefighter and owner of a fireworks stand in Bossier City tries to stress safety with every sale. Bossier City has limited the kinds of sparklers you can sell. They must be free of certain chemicals, chlorates and perchlorates, so people can not create a sparkler bomb with them. Sparkler bombs are several sparklers taped together, which can be extremely dangerous. Reed applaudes the city regulation and would like to see the entire State of Louisiana adopt the same sparkler rules Bossier City has in place. People can shoot fireworks in Shreveport and Bossier City through January 1st until 10 p.m. each night. at night. On New Years Eve those hours extend until 12:30 a.m. in Bossier and 1 a.m. in Shreveport.
