Jasper's Independence Day Celebration

 

 

The KJAS Radio and Jasper’s Independence Day Celebration will be held on, Saturday, June 29th, starting at 5:00 p.m. at the Gazebo in Sandy Creek Park on Marvin Hancock Drive! 


Festivities include LIVE entertainment at 6:00 p.m. by the “City Nights” Band from Sugarland, Texas, Linda Gish- Balloon Animal Art, Dewayne Armstrong -Fun in the Sun Water Slides and Inflatables, the Jasper Police Association Infamous Dunking Booth, and Face Painting. In between song sets, Jennifer Cuellar and the Furlow’s will provide music to the crowd.


KJAS Radio will have their annual hula-hoop contest for kids four to twelve years old starting at 7:30 p.m. with trophies for 1st and 2nd place. For the second year in a row, Rene’ Kellly Ellis, Jasper County Treasurer will sponsor the Watermelon Eating Contest starting at 6:00 p.m. for kids 7 years to 16, and a ladies and men divisions awarding trophies to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.


There will also be local charity and commercial vendors selling festival foods, Rudy’s K-Bobs, Dippin’ Dot ice-cream, Mexican food, lemonade, hamburgers, hot dogs, alligator, and more! 
“Heroes and Patriots” will be on hand with Military themed items and lighted patriotic toys for sell.


As in years past, Craig George, from Campti, Lousiana will once again shoot a spectacular 15-minute fireworks show choreographed to patriotic music at 9:30 p.m. on the South Side of the pond. Show-Tech Productions, Dallas, Texas will provide the sound throughout the park.


For the safety of the vendors, Marvin Hancock Drive at Sandy Creek Park will close at 3:00 p.m. to set up and have access to the roadway. The City of Jasper will run the trollies starting at 4:30 p.m. to the entrance of Sandy Creek Park for those folks that don’t want to walk.


Coordinator, Debbie Foster says stay safe, have fun, bring your lawn chairs, use sunscreen, and drink plenty of water and gator-aide. This event is free to the public.
