Two Center residents died following an early morning one-vehicle accident Tuesday morning on State Hwy. 87, near the foot-of-the hill in Shelbyville. 34-year old Jouwana Standley and 42-year old Martin Baxter Patton lost their lives when the car they were traveling in left the road and struck a tree just after 5 a.m., according to DPS reports. Standley was pronounced dead at the scene by J-P Burt Furlow, and Patton died at Center Memorial Hospital. DPS say neither Standley or Patton were wearing seatbelts.
