And Now for Local Sports:

 

High school football playoffs this week has several local teams involved in second-round action:

 

The 6-4 Tenaha Tigers will play 7-4 Overton at 2 p.m. Friday in Beckville in a Class A, Div. II area game. The winner meets the Hubbard-Bremond game winner, that’s being played Friday night in Waco.

 

The 10-0 Joaquin Rams take on 10-1 Bosqueville at 7 p.m. Friday night in Palestine in a Class A, Div. I area-round game. Both teams are state-ranked, as the Rams are still No. 3, and Bosqueville No. 10. The winner will advance on to play the winner of the Hull-Daisetta-Alto game that’s played Friday night in Lufkin.

 

On the other side of the Region III, Class A, Division I bracket, the 8-2 San Augustine Wolves, state-ranked at No. 8, will play 6-5 Axtell at 7:30 Friday in Crockett. The winner has the Mart-West Sabine winner, a game being played at 6 p.m. Saturday in Palestine.

 

The 8-3 Garrison Bulldogs will play 10-0, No. 4 state-ranked Centerville in a Class 2A, Div. II area round game at 7 Friday night in Bullard. The winner has the winner of the Hughes Spring-Hearne game that’s being played Friday at SFA.

 

A programming note: It’s Tuesday and you’re invited to tune in to Don Wall’s Coaches Show tonight at 7 on Q-100 KQBB FM.

 

High School Basketball last night: Boys – Chireno over Spurger, 68-47; Woden beats Broaddus, 65-47. Girls – Woden defeats Broaddus, 46-34.

 

Tonight’s games: the Lady Riders host the Timpson Lady Bears; the Chireno Lady Owls go to Tenaha to play the Lady Tigers; and the Broaddus Lady Bulldogs go to Garrison to play the Lady Bulldogs.
