High School Sports Update

In the high school football playoffs from the weekend, the Center Roughriders’ season came to an end Friday night, as Fairfield takes a 21-17 win. The Riders finish with an 8-3 record, as Fairfield advances to the area round of the Class 3A playoffs to play Lorena Friday night in Bryan. We congratulate the Center Roughriders on a great season!

 

Other scores involving District 20-3A, playoff teams, Jasper defeats Groesbeck, 58-28, to qualify for the area round where they’ll take on the state’s No. 1 team, Navasota Friday night in Conroe; and Carthage is headed to the second round, after a 30-27 win over Palestine. Carthage will now play Taylor at 7:30 Friday in Corsicana.

 

The Garrison Bulldogs beat Omaha Paul Pewitt, 36-0, as 8-3 Garrison takes on 10-0 Centerville at 7 Friday night in Bullard in an area-round game. Elsewhere, Alto over Harleton, 35-9, and will now play Hull-Daisetta at 2 p.m. Friday in Lufkin; and Mt Enterprise beats Lovelady, 40-7, and will take on Maud in the next round.

 

The Joaquin Rams, Tenaha Tigers and San Augustine Wolves all have second-round playoff games this week.

 

10-0 Joaquin takes on 10-1 Bosqueville at 7 Friday night in Palestine in A Class A, Div. I area game. There will be a "send off" pep rally at 2:45 on Friday, Nov. 23 in the Joaquin ISD bus lane. Center Broadcasting will have coverage of the Rams on Q-100, KQBB FM as Don Wall describes the action.

 

6-4 Tenaha meets 7-4 Overton at 2 p.m. Friday in Beckville in a Class A, Div. II around-round contest.

 

8-2 San Augustine will play 6-5 Axtell in a Class A, Div. 1 area-round game at 7:30 Friday night in Crockett.
