Joaquin man killed by train

A Joaquin man was killed by a freight train Saturday Morning. According to sources, 20-year old Steven Cavalier suffered severe head injuries after being hit by a BNSF Railway company train. The incident occurred off the Haslam Strip behind HWR Trucking in Haslam around 9:28 a.m. Authorities indicate the conductor of the train noticed someone laying on the tracks and proceeded to sound his horn several times to no avail. Shelby County Sheriff Deputy Lester Pitts responded to the scene along with Ace EMS. A company representative from Union Pacific was also on the scene collecting information. Justice of the Peace Pct. 5 Judge Jim Powers, pronounced Cavalier dead at the scene. No autopsy will be done at this time.
