High School Playoff Schedule

The high school football regular season came to an end Friday night, and the first-round playoff picture is set.  The Center Roughriders lost to Jasper 21-27 and will play 7-3 Fairfield at 7:30 Friday night in Lindale, in a Region III bi-district contest. Meanwhile, Jasper takes on Groesbeck at 7:30 Friday in Crockett; and Carthage, the district champion, enters the “big school” playoffs against Palestine at 7:30 Friday in Lufkin.  The Joaquin Rams finished the season at 10-0, and the champs of District 9-A, Division I, with a 34-22 win over Harleton. The Rams have a first-round bye in the playoffs. Finishing second in district was Timpson, as the 9-1 Bears defeat Big Sandy, 24-9. Timpson will play 8-2 West Sabine at 7:30 Thursday night at Roughrider Stadium in Center in a bi-district game. Third place Harleton takes on Alto at 7:30 Friday at West Rusk High in New London. 

 

The District 10-A, Div. I Champion San Augustine Wolves have a first-round bye. The 8-2 Wolves finished the regular season with a 35-3 win over Cushing. The Shelbyville Dragons saw their playoff hopes dashed when Alto took a 45-20 win Friday.  In District 11-A, Div. II, the District Champion Tenaha Tigers wrapped up the regular season with a 56-0 shutout of Sabine Pass, and are waiting to see who their first playoff opponent will be, as the 6-4 Tigers also have a first-round bye. Meanwhile, second place 7-3 Mt Enterprise will play 3-6 Lovelady at 7:30 Friday in Rusk; and third place representative, 3-7 Evadale takes on 7-3 Bremond at 7:30 Friday in Groveton.  The Garrison Bulldogs enter the state playoffs at 7:30 Friday in Carthage against 4-6 Paul Pewitt.
