Community meetings today

There are several governing bodies in the community holding regular or special called meetings today.

The Center City Council meets at 5 this afternoon, and among the items for discussion and possible action includes: approve construction management contract and amendments establishing maximum construction price for renovations to the Community House; in addition to approving amendments to design-builder contract with Berry & Clay Construction for City Hall renovations.

There will also be a presentation by Terry Allen requesting support for the Regional Groundwater Conservation District.  Center City Council will also hear updates on street construction projects; the City Hall water-bill Kiosk; radio equipment purchase; and the downtown Streetscape informational video.

When the Timpson City Council meets at 5:15 today, the lone agenda item for the special meeting will be discussing and considering the resignation of Tanya Windham as city secretary. Council members are also expected to authorize the advertising for applicants for the city secretary position.

The Shelbyville ISD Board of Trustees meet tonight, and among the agenda items will be a public meeting on School FIRST (Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas); consider for approval an emergency plan and district/campus improvement plan; and receive an update from Superintendent, Dr. Ray West, on the District Academic Meet, open house and health fair, and facilities update. That’s a meeting of the Shelbyville school board at 6 this evening.

The Shelby County Commissioners’ Court and the San Augustine County Commissioners’ Court both have meetings scheduled for Tuesday morning, a change in meeting day due to the courthouses being closed today for Veterans Day observance.
