41-year-old James Calvert captured

Police have found a 4-year-old boy and a man suspected of shooting and killing his ex-wife, according to Tyler Police spokesman Don Martin. Late last night, 41-year-old James Calvert was captured in West Monroe, Louisiana. Martin says the child, Lucas Calvert is safe. Tyler Police got a call around 11:30 p.m. from the West Monroe Police Department. Calvert was pulled over for a regular traffic stop in a 2000 Buick LeSabre with fake license plates. He started a slow roll then started a short high-speed pursuit which led to a minor wreck. West Monroe police say Calvert had a gun in both his lap and the backseat of the car where Lucas was unharmed in a car seat. There was no struggle according to police, but officers did have to break a window to get Calvert out of the vehicle. DPS, Texas Rangers, the FBI and U.S. Marshal's were all involved in the search. The investigation is still ongoing at this time. It is unknown when Calvert will be extradited back to Texas. According to Tyler Police, James Calvert shot his ex-wife Jelena Sriraman and kidnapped their 4-year-old child, Lucas Calvert. According to the Smith County Sheriff's Office, Calvert has been booked into the county jail on three charges of violating a protective order since 2009.
