SAN AUGUSTINE COUNTY – The Texas Department of Public (DPS) responded to and investigated a two-vehicle major crash on 1-18-19 at the intersection of SH 103 and FM 1277.

The preliminary crash investigation indicates at approximately 10:20 a.m., a 2002 Nissan passenger car failed to yield right of way from the stop intersection at FM 1277 and drove into the path of a 2015 Chevy SUV traveling east on SH 103. The driver of the Nissan is identified as 79-year-old Ronald Otis from Broaddus. Otis and a passenger identified as 79-year-old Bobbie Otis were both pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Chevrolet is identified as 64-year-old Ireece Nutt from Houston. Nutt was transported to CHI St. Luke’s Hospital in Lufkin for treatment. This crash remains under investigation. No additional information is available at this time.
