SHELBY COUNTY – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) responded to a one-vehicle crash on Jan. 8, 2019, on SH 7, about eight miles west of Center.

 

The preliminary investigation indicates at approximately 3:50 p.m., a 2012 GMC pickup was traveling west on SH 7. Investigators believe the driver fell asleep and drove off the roadway to the right and struck a tree.

The driver is identified as 27-year-old Eliezer Briones, from Nacogdoches. Briones was transported by medical helicopter to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport for treatment.

This crash remains under investigation. No additional information is available at this time.
