DPU Arrest

 

 

 

On November 8, 2018, at about 12:40 a.m., deputies with the DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office Directed Patrol Unit conducted a traffic stop that resulted in a narcotics arrest.  Deputies stopped a vehicle on Highway 171 in Stonewall, LA for a traffic violation and made contact with the driver, later identified as Cordarrel Cooksey (B/M – DOB: 06/28/1990) of Shreveport, LA.  During speaking with the driver, deputies noticed what they believed to be marijuana in plain view on the floor board of the vehicle.  Consent was requested to search the vehicle but the driver refused.  Deputies advised Cooksey they had observed what they believed to be marijuana in plain view, explained his Miranda rights, and conducted a vehicle search.  Deputies located digital scales, over $2,000 in cash, a pill bottle with no prescription label that contained pills believed to be ecstasy, a large glass jar containing suspected marijuana, and large sandwich bags containing additional pills believed to be ecstasy.  A total of over 700 grams of ecstasy and 2.5 ounces of suspected marijuana were located in the vehicle Cooksey was operating.  Deputies seized all of the evidence and currency and placed Cooksey under arrest.  He was later transported to DeSoto Parish Detention Center and booked on the following charges:
