Center City Council aproves new items

Center City Council has approved an engineering agreement for work authorization to move the public infrastructure portions of the Downtown Master Plan toward installation.  The work authorization involves the City’s engineer, Bob Staehs, to begin work with a team including White Oak Studios to complete field surveying and develop initial construction plans and documents capable of use for detailed cost estimates, schedule of construction and application for funding opportunities. With $50,000 for the Street Economic Development Committee and $75,000 budgeted, the City is ready to move forward with this project.  The city also approved Resolution 2012-20 accepting TxDOT design and plan for installation of a traffic signal at Tenaha and Timpson/Porter Streets.  Another approved item was Ordinance 2012-14, establishing the rates and fees for City water, sewer, garbage and other fees. Rates for residential and commercial are increased roughly 2.5% for water, 3% for sewer and 1.2% for garbage. The average customer monthly bill will increase by roughly $1.55.
