The local VFW Post 8904 and the women's auxiliary held a memorial today 9-21-18 in honor of all our Shelby County Prisoners of War and those Missing in Action. Larry Rymal gave a speech about his step-father Dr. Roy L. Emken who was a prisoner to the Japanese in WWII, surviving the Bataan Death March.

The names of the POW's & MIA's from Shelby County were read. The flags were lowered and the old POW flag was replaced with a new one. Taps was played by a member of the VFW in honor of our brave American military and the ceremony concluded.
As is customary the post had their picture taken in front of the Veteran's Memorial in front of the Historic Shelby County Courthouse by the local media.
