NACOGDOCHES COUNTY - The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) investigated a one-vehicle crash on State Highway 21, at the Angelina River on 9-16-18.

 

The preliminary investigation indicates at approximately 12:30 p.m., Troopers were notified of a submerged vehicle in the Angelina River. During their investigation, Troopers determined a 2012 Ford pickup was traveling west, and for reasons that have not been determined at this point, the pickup drove off the roadway to the right and rolled over into the River.  The pickup and the driver were recovered from the water.

 

The driver is identified as 36-year-old Joshua Dillard from Elkhart, TX. Dillard was pronounced deceased at the scene by a Nacogdoches County Justice of the Peace.

 

Investigators continue to work to determine the time of the crash.  This crash remains under investigation. No additional information is available at this time.
