PUCT Chairman DeAnn Walker Addresses East Texas Electric Cooperative Annual Meeting

 

 

Nacogdoches--The Chairman of the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT), DeAnn Walker, spoke Friday to the annual meeting of East Texas Electric Cooperative (ETEC) and other invited guests.
 
At the meeting held at The Fredonia Hotel in downtown Nacogdoches, Walker spoke about steps being taken to ensure that there is adequate and reliable electric supply to serve our growing state, particularly during the severe heat wave that Texas is currently experiencing. She took questions from the audience following her remarks.
 
Also in attendance at the Friday meeting was Rep. Travis Clardy, R-Nacogdoches, Texas House District 11. Clardy currently serves on the House committees on Higher Education, Local and Consent Calendars, Special Purpose Districts and the select committee on Redistricting.
 
Walker has served as chair of the PUCT since Sept. 20, 2017, when Gov. Greg Abbott appointed her to a term that runs until Sept. 1, 2021. She is a graduate of SMU and the South Texas College of Law.
 
Ryan Thomas, General Manager and CEO of ETEC, said, "We were delighted that Chairman Walker was able to join us, and share her insights on the various matters affecting Texas electric utilities and their customers.
