The Northwest Louisiana Chapter of the American Red Cross deployed four volunteers Sunday to assist in the pre-landfall preparedness activities for Tropical Storm Isaac. Assistant Executive Director at the American Red Cross Michelle Davison says these four are part of a specially designed Red Cross unit to help potentially affected states stand-up their readiness in the event of a hurricane. Assuming either Mississippi or Louisiana are directly affected, they will transition immediately into the disaster relief operation. The Northwest Louisiana Chapter is maintaining its stand-by status for local volunteers, assets and shelters, to deploy as needed, and is continuing to monitor the situation.
