TxDOT Update

 

 

LUFKIN – Texas Department of Transportation Commissioners on Thursday approved more than $941.7 million in construction projects throughout the state, with $16.1 million designated for four new projects in the Lufkin District.
 
Curb ramps and sidewalks will be constructed at various locations in the Lufkin District. Encino Landscape, Inc., Cleveland, TX, will serve as contractor for the $2.1 million project. No timeline for completion has been set. The curb ramps are designed to meet the American Disabilities Act, greatly enhance the area and create greater access and maneuverability for pedestrians.
 
Locations where new curb ramps and sidewalks will be constructed include:
 
Angelina County: In Lufkin, ramps and sidewalks will be placed along BU 59 (Timberland Drive) from FM 325 (East Lufkin Ave.) to SH 94 (Frank Street), from SH 94 (Frank Street) from BU/US 59 (Timberland Drive) to East Shepherd Ave, and from BU/US 59 (Timberland Drive) to Lufkin High School along FM 325 (East Lufkin Ave).
 
Sabine County: In Hemphill, ramps and sidewalks will be placed along SH 87 from Milan Street to SH 83.
 
Houston County: In Grapeland, ramps and sidewalks will be placed from Grapeland Elementary School along FM 1272 to FM 227.
 
Nacogdoches County: In Garrison, ramps and sidewalks will be placed from Garrison High School along US 59 to Francis Street.
 
San Augustine County: In San Augustine, ramps and sidewalks will be placed along SH 21 from FM 2213 to FM 3230.
 
Other projects approved included an $12 million construction project in Houston County that is designed to reconstruct pavement and add a passing lane from the east side of the Trinity River Bridge to FM 1280, and improve guardrail to design standards and safety treat fixed objects from the Madison County Line to FM 1280. Knife River Corporation – South, Bryan, TX, will serve as contractor. No timeline for completion has been set.
 
A $1.5 million construction project on FM 2967 was also approved for Houston County that is designed to reconstruct and widen pavement from FM 132 to SH 21. Pinto Construction Company, Inc., Nacogdoches, TX, will serve as contractor. No timeline for completion has been set.
 
County Road 2245 at Big Elkhart Creek and CR 1515 Sullivan Road at Flat Fork Creek in Houston County were approved for bridge replacements with approaches at a cost of $584,116. Longview Bridge and Road, Ltd, Longview, TX, will serve as contractor. No timeline for completion has been set.
 
Pre-construction meetings will be held for each project and traffic control devices and signage will be placed through the work zones as construction begins. Motorists are urged to stay alert, reduce speed and obey all traffic control devices as these projects progress.
