Weather Update

Today - Extended period of heavy rain expected over the IH 30 down to IH 20 corridor from Tyler to the northeast into OK and Ark.

Tomorrow the rainfall shifts to the South & East. Wednesday is the heaviest forecast rain.

Thursday morning the rainfall continues its movement to the South and East.

Rainfall estimates continue as projected in the late evening advisory issued last evening. As with all T-storms and slow moving fronts, some will catch much higher amounts of rain.  The atmosphere is very moist with the Southerly Gulf air flowing our way and triggering the rain. Our ground is saturated. and we are moving into a continuing wet period with more rain coming thru the next 7 days.

Winds and flash flooding are the major threats associated with this event. Low lying areas, Creeks, Tributaries, and Rivers will be apart of the threat due the current ground conditions.

Even though we are currently in the lower rainfall forecast area, the NWS feels like the rain area and amounts could be expanded as the event unfolds.
