Tenaha ISD School Closure

After conferring with our Board President Aaron Roland, Vice President Ronnie Samford, and various TISD administration members and staff, we have made the decision to close operations for the remainder of the week due to excessive absenteeism due to the recent outbreak of the flu. Upon return to classes today, 20% of the student population and 15% of staff are absent and many of those have been confirmed with Type A flu or flu-like symptoms and/or fever. It is our belief that the only way to stop the spread of the virus is to cease operations and allow our support personnel the time and space to thoroughly disinfect all district facilities. Tenaha ISD will continue its Extra-Curricular schedule over the interim.

Also, Monday, January 22 will now be a student day of school. We expect all students to return to normal operations at that time.

We hope this action will allow those who are sick time to overcome their symptoms as well as give us time to eradicate any “bugs” that still exist on campus.
