Man Killed in Hunting Accident

On December 27, 2017, The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting accident on County Road 3373 in Joaquin.

 
Sheriff Willis Blackwell reports that a juvenile and a family member had been in the area hunting. After the individual finished hunting, the juvenile was attempting to unload his gun when the instrument accidentally discharged striking Francisco Gomez, 22 of Georgia, in the chest.
 
Gomez was pronounced deceased at 12:16 p.m. by Justice of the Peace Pct. 3 Margie Anderson.
 
This case was under the investigation of the SCSO and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
