Wreck on HWY 7

At approximately 5:40a.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) responded to a one vehicle crash on Highway 7 in Shelby County.  The crash occurred just West of Center, Texas.

Initial reports indicate that a 2016 Kenworth truck tractor semi-trailer hauling chickens was traveling westbound on Highway 7 in Shelby County.  For an unknown reason, the vehicle traveled off the roadway to the right.  In an attempt to get the vehicle back on the road, the driver over-corrected to the left causing the vehicle to overturn and lose its load.

The driver, 46-year-old Donald Johnson of Center, was transported by ambulance to Nacogdoches Medical Center in Center, Texas with minor injuries.  Johnson has since been released from the hospital.

All four (4) traffic lanes of Highway 7 were closed for approximately three (3) hours, but have since reopened.

Johnson was issued a traffic citation for failure to drive in a single lane.  There are no further details to be released at this time.
