Soldiers based out of West Monroe, Ruston, and Bossier City touched down at the Monroe Regional Airport Saturday morning after a one year deployment in Afghanistan. The 1022nd Engineer Company brought 158 soldiers home. In that group there were 40 soldiers from the Bossier City/Shreveport Area that returned. The 1022nd Engineer Company aided in the construction under the 578th Engineer Battalion/18th Engineer Brigade. This group is a part of the 40 thousand troops expected to leave Afghanistan by the end of 2012.
