Shelby County Commissioners' Court Special meeting

The Shelby County Commissioners' Court held a special meeting of the Governing body of Shelby County on Monday afternoon. Judge Rick Campbell and Commissioners Jimmy Lout, Roscoe McSwain, and Travis Rogers were in attendance.  The first item on the agenda was the proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year.  The court agreed on the budget and so was then filed at the County Clerks office Tuesday morning.  The second item up for discussion  on the agenda was the current tax rate of $0.55. Members of the court unanimously approved to pass a 3 cents tax increase with 2 cents going to Road and Bridge and 1 cent going to the general fund. The proposed tax rate would be 58 cents. A Tax Rate Public Hearing has been scheduled for Friday, August 24th at 9:30am at the courthouse.
