The summer vacation is over for high school athletes as today marks the beginning of practice for the upcoming football season. The first four-days of conditioning drills will give way to Friday's first day of pads and contact. Scrimmages begin the weekend of Aug. 17, with the first games set to kick-off the season Aug. 31. Center Broadcasting's coverage starts Aug. 31 when the Center Roughriders host Buna. You'll be able to hear all Roughrider games on KDET with Rob Payne and Chris Watlington starting their 21st season as the voices of Rider Football. We'll have the Shelby County Game of the Week on Q-100, KQBB, with veteran sportscaster Don Wall describing the action.
