Ted Cruz sweeps David Dewhurst

Tea party-backed attorney Ted Cruz swept past establishment Republican Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst to win a runoff Tuesday and seize the GOP nomination for the U.S. Senate. Cruz used advantages in nearly all the state's heavily populated counties to secure the party's nod to succeed retiring Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison. Henderson native Paul Sadler beat Grady Yarbrough with a convincing 63% of the votes to win the Democrat Nomination. Ted Cruz and Paul Sadler will face off in November.
