SHELBY COUNTY- Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers responded to and investigated a two vehicle fatal crash early this morning on SH 7 about four miles east of Center. The preliminary crash investigation indicates at approximately 1:10 a.m., a 1988 Isuzu pickup was traveling east on SH 7 and crossed over the center stripe and struck a westbound 2015 Dodge SUV head-on. The driver of the Isuzu was identified as Vicki Thomas, 70, from Center, TX. Thomas was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash by Justice of the Peace Maxie Eaves. The driver of the Dodge SUV was identified as Rebekah Simmonds, 20, from Shelbyville, TX. Simmonds was transported to a Center Hospital with unknown injuries. This crash remains under investigation. No additional information is available at this time.
