Public invited to support ROTC at Piney Woods Shootout

SFA’s Army ROTC is hosting Sam Houston State University’s Army ROTC’s marksmanship team for a friendly competition beginning noon Friday, March 31, at Meadow Ridge Archery and Gun's shooting complex in Nacogdoches.

 

Unofficially called “The Piney Woods Shootout,” the rifle marksmanship challenge consists of three shooting events that will test each competitor’s ability to accurately and safely engage a variety of targets using each marksmanship team’s civilian-equivalent M4 rifles. 

 

The event is free and open to the public. Attendees will help support future U.S. Army officers as they compete for the coveted Piney Woods Shootout trophy.
