Steen Library has enabled greater discover ability of open access publications in Scholar Works with the assignment of Digital Object Identifiers to journal publications. Each DOI is unique to the publication and provides a persistent URL to the content.

 

The “Index of Texas Archaeology,” the first Scholar Works journal to incorporate this feature, experienced a significant increase in the number of reports downloaded within the first month of incorporating DOIs. In addition to other journals published in Scholar Works, the library will expand the use of DOIs to include data sets, theses, dissertations and other publications in the repository.
