The Lasting Importance of Paper Documents

 

 

 

 

 

 

District Clerk Lori Oliver visited with TAGHS last week about the importance of preserving our old court documents some of which are older that the Historic Shelby County Court House.  Why is it important because paper copies last for hundreds of years and once they are gone they are gone forever.

Paper – 300 to 500 years
 
Microfilm – 50 to 100 years
 
Digital 2 to 10 years
