The Healthcare committee of the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce is hosting the 10th Annual Health and Fitness Fair, Thursday, March 30 at the Windham Civic Center from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.  The fair is free to the public featuring over 30 vendors with give aways and door prizes.  Cline Family Medicine is the presenting sponsor of this year’s event along with gold sponsor, Nacogdoches Medical Center.  Vendors will be providing health screenings which includes glucose, cholesterol, spinal screenings, heart awareness, bone density and vision. Information will be provided on home health, nursing homes, hospice, nutrition, allergy treatments, diabetes and caregiver relief.  

 

In addition, a mobile mammogram unit hosted by Trinity Mother Frances will be at the fair.  All mammogram appointments must be made prior to Friday, March 24 by calling Daphne at 936 598-7744.  There is a charge for the mammograms with most health insurance accepted. Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center will be on site with a blood mobile taking donations, to sign up to donate please contact Shelby County Chamber of Commerce at 936-598-3682.

 

The fair will host break out session speakers from, CHI St. Luke’s Health Memorial, Dr. Chris Cantu, “Chiropractic Medicine” and LeAnne Anderson, “Diabetes Care” at 10:30 a.m. and Casey Lout, Affinity Hospice, topic “Hospice Care” at 1:30 p.m. 

 

Dr. Chris Cantu has been with CHI St. Luke’s Heath Memorial Clinics since 2014. He has an office in San Augustine where he treats patients from newborn to elderly. He will be doing a presentation on “Chiropractic Care, what is pain is good for and how to get rid of it”.  

 

LeAnne Anderson, RDN, LD, CDE is a registered dietitian nutritionist and certified diabetes educator who specializes in healthy nutrition, diabetes, weight management, and heart disease.  A graduate of the University of Nebraska, LeAnne completed her clinical experience at Texas Woman’s University.  LeAnne  provides nutrition counseling at the Polk Education Center and the Cardiac Rehabilitation Center at CHI St. Luke’s Health in Lufkin.  

 

Casey Lout, Director of Public Relations for Affinity Hospice in Center, will give a presentation on hospice care. The Center branch opened in the Summer of 2016 and provides service for all of Shelby County, as well as Sabine, Panola, San Augustine, and Nacogdoches Counties.  Silver sponsors for the event include Pine Grove Nursing Center, Gaddy’s Medical Equipment, Vision Source, Focused Care of Center, Holiday Nursing Center, East Texas Home Health and Hope Medical.
