TxDOT approved $350.6 million in construction projects

 

The Texas Transportation Commission approved in February more than $350.6 million in construction projects and $36.8 million in maintenance projects, with several new projects located in the Lufkin District.  Construction projects approved for the Lufkin District total $8.2 million and include:
 
ANGELINA COUNTY
A $1.9 million construction project designed to improve guardrails to design standards and upgrade bridge and approach railing will be located on US 59 from BU 59 North to BU 59 South as well as US 59 at Hurricane Creek, US 59 at McCall Creek, SL 287 at Cedar Creek, SL 287 at Hurricane Creek, and US 59 at Shirey Creek. SJ & J Construction, Dallas, will serve as contractor for the project.
 
A $255,255 construction project is designed to upgrade traffic signals on BU 69 at FM 58. Signal Services Group, Inc., Houston, will serve as contractor for the project.
Two maintenance projects that total $616,860 were also approved for Angelina County. The projects are designed as bridge preventive maintenance and are located at various locations in the district. Champion Infrastructure, Salado, will serve as contractor for the projects.
 
HOUSTON COUNTY
A $3.1 million construction project on FM 227 designed to reconstruct and widen pavement to 24-feet, with the addition of rumble strips and safety treating fixed objects includes locations just east of US 287 to FM 3016, from US 287 to SH 21 and from just east of CR 1685 to SH 21. Pinto Construction, Nacogdoches, will serve as contractor for the project.
 
POLK COUNTY 
A $2.2 million construction project was approved that includes new overlay on US 59 from SL 393 South to the Trinity River. Moore Brothers Construction, Lufkin, will serve as contractor for the project.
 
NACOGDOCHES COUNTY
A $775,621 construction project was approved and is designed to safety treat fixed objects on FM 1087 from US 259 to FM 95. AR Brothers Construction Services, San Augustine, will serve as contractor for the project.
 
"As these new projects begin, we urge motorists to stay alert and be aware of construction equipment locating and beginning work in these areas. The traveling public can expect daily lane closures in these areas and should be prepared for delays, especially at peak travel hours. We are excited as these new projects begin and as with all construction and maintenance projects, they will progress as weather permits," said Rhonda Oaks, public information officer for the Lufkin District.
