Six members of the Joaquin High School Rockin' Ram Band were invited to practice with the Louisiana National Guard's 156th Army Band on Sunday. Junior percussionist Skylar Herbison, Sophomore flutist Hannah Ewing, freshman tenor saxophone Samuel Brazzel, freshman alto saxophone Madison Cheatwood, eighth grade alto saxophone Trystan Herbison, and eighth grade percussionist Sarah Ewing all spent the day working with the professional and college level musicians of the Louisiana Army Band. The Louisiana Army Band is under the direction of Chief Warrant Officer Three Wade Furniss, who approved the visit. The visit was arranged by Joaquin Band Director James Carpenter, who is a Specialist in the 156th and plays saxophone in the Louisiana 156th Army Band. All of the students involved were grateful for the opportunity to work with these musicians.
