Deweyville Day at Patricia Huffman Smith Columbia Museum

In March, the community and residents of Deweyville suffered greatly due to the heavy flooding. The elementary school, in particular, was heavily damaged and the students were unable to return to school for several weeks after the water receded.

On May 12, 2016, the Patricia Huffman Smith NASA Columbia Museum will be hosting the 4th graders from Deweyville I.S.D. to a fun filled day at the museum for their field trip. We have several activities planned for the children to keep them entertained throughout the day. Mr. Todd Hellner, an engineer from NASA, will be the guest speaker at this event. Subway in Hemphill will provide their snacks and their lunch will also be provided. We want these children to experience the compassion of giving back or paying it forward when someone is in need.

The Patricia Huffman Smith NASA Columbia Museum offers educational programs benefitting children of all ages in our area in the hope of building the next GREATEST GENERATION.

We are so excited about their visit and look forward to being able to give back to our community.

If you would like to donate your time that day to help or become a volunteer, please call our museum at 409-787-4827.
