Sewing Sensations Workshops

Are you interested in learning basic machine sewing?  Would you like to learn how to make a beginning quilt that you can enter in the Poultry Festival this fall?  Do you enjoy creating art, clothing or décor from recyclables?  If you answered, “yes” then the 4-H Clothing and Textiles Sewing Sensations Project is for you.

In this project, boys and girls grades 3rd through 12th focus on clothing construction, the consumer aspect of purchasing clothing and/or the art of designing clothing and accessories.  This clothing and textiles project helps 4-H members develop a variety of skills and learn about careers in the clothing and textiles industry while having fun.
This project is limited to 10 participants and requires an adult to be present at each workshop.  Sewing machines will be provided for workshop use.  If your child is an active 4-H member there is no fee to participate.  Non-4-H members are welcome to participate by enrolling in 4-H and submitting the $25 registration fee.  Call the Extension office at 936-598-7744 for enrollment information.

Sewing Sensations workshops are scheduled for Sunday, March 6, March 20, April 3, and April 17 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the active Shelby County Courthouse, 2nd floor meeting room.
If you are interested in joining Shelby County 4-H Clothing and Textile Project or would like additional information on our programs, give the Shelby County Extension office a call at 598-7744, Jheri-Lynn McSwain - Family and Consumer Sciences County Agent.
