Woman Convicted of DWI with Child

On 12/31/15 at approximately 10:44 pm, Angelina County DPS stopped a 1996 Volvo passenger car traveling eastbound on SH 103 West in Angelina County. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Willie Mae Rodriguez (34), from Lubbock, TX. Rodriguez was determined to be intoxicated after the completion of the field sobriety tests and was subsequently taken into custody for Driving While Intoxicated w/Child passenger due to having her 10 year old son in the vehicle. While at the scene the child passenger informed the Trooper that Rodriguez had stopped and let his brother out of the vehicle on the side of the road somewhere prior to Rodriguez being stopped. The Trooper notified Lufkin DPS Communications of the situation and additional officers immediately responded to the area to search for the second child. While attempting to locate the child, the Houston County Sheriff’s Office notified Lufkin DPS that the child had been safely located in Houston County near Kennard. The second child was a 12 year old male. Rodriguez was transported to a Lufkin hospital where a search warrant for a blood sample was obtained and then transported to the Angelina County Jail and charged with DWI w/Child Passenger (SJF). Rodriguez also faces additional charges out of Houston County as well
