Panola Men's Basketball Go on the Road to Defeat Angelina, 83-66

The Panola College men’s basketball team defeated Angelina College here Saturday night by a score of 83-66. With the victory, Panola raises their record to 11-3 overall and 2-1 in Region XIV play. “This was an outstanding team win. Our guys battled and competed for the whole 40 minute ball game.” Explained Head Coach Grant McMillan. “It was an unbelievable group effort.” He added.

 

After a seesaw first half, Panola took a 34-32 halftime lead. Once again, both teams battled back and forth for the first 10 minutes of the second half. Trailing by 2 points with just under 9:00 minutes remaining, Charles Tucker (Lansing, Michigan) took a charge which led to a 33-16 run to finish the game.

 

Tucker recorded a double-double in the victory netting 19 points and dishing out 10 assists. Jonathan Wiley (Houston, Texas) also recorded a double-double with 10 points and chasing down 18 rebounds. Devyn Wilson (Brooklyn, New York) drilled four, three pointers in the second half in route to 15 points. Terry Holt (Nashville, Tennessee) and Tope Arikawe (Nigeria) both recorded 11 points. Arikawe swatted a team high 10 blocks. As a team, Panola nailed 10 three pointers and chased down 46 total rebounds.

 

Panola will next be in action this upcoming Wednesday, December 9th when the take on Blinn College. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM at the Arthur Johnson Gymnasium on the campus of Panola College.
