On (Saturday) 10/31/15 at 12:12 AM (midnight), Nacogdoches County DPS responded to a crash on HWY 59 south, approximately four miles South of Nacogdoches. The preliminary crash investigation indicates a Honda Accord was traveling northbound on HWY 59 when it struck a Chevrolet pickup from behind as it was slowing to make a right turn. The Chevrolet truck then traveled into and came to rest in the northbound ditch of HWY 59. As a result of the initial crash the Honda spun around facing south in the northbound lanes of HWY 59, where moments later it was struck from the front by a northbound Volkswagen Jetta, driven by Sydney Cantalupo (20), from Driftwood, TX. The driver of the Chevrolet pickup was identified as Candice Cooper (32), from Nacogdoches, TX. The driver of the Honda Accord was identified as Jose Luis Reyes (21), from Nacogdoches, TX. Reyes was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The condition of  Cooper and Cantalupo is not known at this time.
