Extension Specialist Speaker

https://beekeepernews.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/img_3223.jpgThe Shelby County Beekeepers Club is hosting a program on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 beginning at 11:30 a.m. in the active Shelby County Courthouse, 2nd floor meeting room featuring Mary Reed, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Apiary Inspector.  Ms. Reed will be presenting “Honey Bees, Agriculture, and the Law:  The Role Texas Apiary Inspection Service Plays in Safeguarding the Apiary Industry” and answering questions regarding beekeeping in Texas.

Ms. Reed is the newest Apiary Inspector for the state of Texas.  Before coming to Texas, she received a B.S. in Entomology from the University of Florida and has spent 5 years researching plant diseases that impact the agricultural industry.  She is excited to be here working with beekeepers of all levels and looks forward to hearing about Shelby County beekeeping.  The public is invited to attend this informative program, and there is no fee to participate.
