On 9/7/15 at about 8:00 AM, a two vehicle crash occurred on SH 103 east,

 

approximately six miles East of Lufkin. The preliminary crash investigation 

 

indicates that a 2014 Mack truck tractor semi-trailer and a 2013 Chevrolet pickup 

 

were both traveling eastbound on SH 103. The Mack truck was reportedly making 

 

a right turn onto Tom Holland Road when the Chevrolet truck took evasive action 

 

to the right to avoid striking the vehicle from behind and subsequently struck the 

 

truck and then struck a utility pole and a fence. The driver of the Mack truck was 

 

identified as Jose Gustavo Castillo (32), from Nacogdoches, TX. Castillo was not 

 

injured as a result of the crash. The driver of the Chevrolet pickup was identified as 

 

Shawn Michael Favor (20), from Hemphill, TX. Faver was traveling with three 

 

passengers, two of which were transported to Woodland Heights Hospital with 

 

non-life threatening injuries. Faver reportedly had been drinking and pending the 

 

outcome of the investigation could face criminal charges. This crash remains under 

 

investigation and no additional information is available at this time.
