Desoto Parish Arrest

Sheriff Rodney Arbuckle would like to announce the arrest of a suspect following numerous complaints of trespassing and loitering in the southern end of DeSoto Parish.  Over the course of about 2 weeks, DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office received multiple phone complaints in reference to a white male subject trespassing and loitering on property.  This subject identified himself as Matt but used different last names during his encounters with the public.  Deputies attempted to locate him but were unable to.  We were able to positively identify him based off information received from the public.  On August 28, 2015, we released a request for assistance in locating the subject from the public on our Facebook page.  Thanks to this release, and the attentive public, we were able to locate the subject operating his vehicle on US Highway 84 near Logansport, LA on August 29, 2015 at about 10:02 a.m.  Deputies observed the driver of the vehicle fail to keep his lane of travel and the vehicle had no license plate.  A traffic stop was initiated for these reasons, as well as to inquire about the previous complaints.  The driver, identified as Matthew Kelly Cawthon (W/M – DOB: 11/12/1966) of Shreveport, LA, was found to be driving without a driver’s license on his person and in possession of an open alcoholic container.  He was placed under arrest for the traffic offenses.  Deputies also spoke with him about trespassing on and loitering around other people’s property.  Mr. Cawthon was booked on the above charges.  He later posted a cash bond and was released pending court.
