LUFKIN - As the Labor Day Holiday approaches, the Lufkin District is partnering with area law enforcement agencies to host the "Drink, Drive, Go to Jail" campaign, with the dynamic message of "Choose Your Ride."
This year's event will be held at the Polk County Rest Area and will be supported by Polk and Angelina County law enforcement and city and county officials.
"Choose Your Ride" will serve to remind drivers that if you choose to drink and drive, the vehicle you reach your destination in might not be the one you expected it to be. Vehicles on display will range from a police car to a hearse and will present a dynamic visual message to the public along with comments from speakers who have seen first-hand the results of choosing to drink and drive.
The Labor Day campaign event on Wednesday will coincide with local law enforcement agencies that will increase their efforts to arrest drunk drivers Aug. 21 through the Sept. 7 no refusal Labor Day Holiday.
